CLUB DETAILS

We are a table tennis club based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Our aim is to provide table tennis playing and coaching facilities for players of all ages, especially young people. New members are especially welcome.

Sessions take place on Friday evenings from 6:45 pm until 8:45 pm at St Albans Girls' School (STAGS) in Sandridgebury Lane (off Harpenden Road), AL3 6DB.

No special clothing is required except for gym shoes or trainers and lightweight comfortable clothing, tracksuits or sports clothes. No white or orange tops or jeans please, as these make it difficult for opponents to sight the ball.

News

The next club session will take place on Friday 10th May.

Please note that all table tennis sessions will be held in the Assembly Hall at the front of the school for the foreseeable future. This is because the Sports Hall is currently furnished with desks during the school exam period.

The updated Ladder table has recently been posted, following the latest Ladder Ranking night on Friday, 12th April. See the following paragraph for more information about the Ladder Competition and the performances of club members.

Ladder Table

The Ladder competition is open to all our players and continually monitors their improvement over the season. Players are allocated a handicap based on their ability and past performance, and aim to reduce it by beating competitors of similar standard and so move up the ladder.

The last Ladder Ranking Night took place on Friday, 12th April. Two players succeeded in reducing their handicaps by four points. They were Michael Keenan who moved 33 places up the Ladder, and Alfie Quick who moved up 30. Three players improved their handicaps by 3 points. Daniel Broner retained his place at the top of the ladder with a zero handicap. Well done to all the players concerned !

NCL & NJL

Some of the best young players from this club have recently been competing in the National Junior League (NJL) tournament for under-18 players which is organised by Table Tennis England.

Our A team finished 3rd in Division 1 and were the only team to beat the eventual winners.

Our B team won medals for finishing runners-up in Division 3.

Open Days & Exhibitions

The club has hosted a number of exhibitions and coaching events in the past.

One of the best was an Open Day held in 2011 when Desmond Douglas and other England internationals helped with the coaching.
